Applied Materials - Building 81 Renovation
Design | 50% | Project Summary: The renovation of Building 81 on the Applied Materials Arques Campus in Sunnyvale, California is the first phase in a multi-building master plan for the expansion of Applied Materials as the global leader in the semiconductor equipment market. The existing 400,000 square foot building renovation included complete seismic upgrade, new shipping/receiving loading docks, retrofit of approximately 230,000 square feet of open office area and retrofit of existing areas into 22,000 square feet of cleanroom. Also, new light laboratories were added and the existing kitchen/servery and dining room were upgraded. The building accommodates up to 2000 employees and is intended to meet the facility needs of the Etch Division. Masterplanning studies were also provided to organize the 35-acre site and determine locations for future buildings while optimizing the existing site features for Applied Materials. The project was designed as a design/build contract by Graeber-Hathaway, Inc., a joint venture of Graeber, Simmons & Cowan, Inc. and E.A. Hathaway & Co., General Contractors. The services of Graeber-Hathaway included masterplanning, programming, estimating, design and project management of all building and site elements as well as construction services and fit-up coordination. |
